Belated Birthday Wishes and Won Ton Soup

We finally got everyone together for Kenzie's 17th Birthday dinner, only a week late. Grandma was back in town from Arizona for a few days and we jumped at the chance to celebrate. Kenzie chose to go to The Black Pearl, which is a new chinese restaurant, that has to die for crab rangoon. Kenzie and I stopped to buy candles for the cake and she said NO CANDLES- they will sing to me if there are CANDLES! So I didn't buy the candles and as the pictures show YES, they still SANG TO HER EVEN WITHOUT CANDLES on her cake! We all sang to her, even Ashley on the phone from Cedar City! One more little tidbit ... at The Black Pearl not only does the birthday girl get FREE dessert they brought out enough for all of us... Fried Ice Cream!

The Homecoming Dress made of Gold!

Here are some pictures of Kenzie before she left for the Homecoming Dance. Isn't the dress beautiful on her? Alyson and Jenn took Kenz "shopping" to Alyson's Closet. Ever heard of it? Um... Alyson's closet?!?! There were some fabulous dresses that Kenz tried on and she chose this one!I love the short hair all curly!! Thanks Annie, for the fabulous hair-do.

For their day date they went paint balling and let me tell you she came home with some serious welts in really unfortunate places. Yikes! Only one more High School Homecoming Dance to go for this girl, where does the time go? I want to know!!

So Long Drill Team, Hello Football Team?!?!

So as you can see Kenzie has traded in her dance shoes for "cleats" and took up a new sport last night for Homecoming Week at Mountain Crest. Yes, my daughter took to the field and played powderuff football. (This is the same girl who wouldnt play T-Ball because the hat messed up her hair.) Colby, Jason and I were there watching her and they both mentioned that she really looked like she knew what she was doing! It must be from all those Denver Bronco games she's been forced to watch her whole life. She got in on a few plays and in the end the Senior girls beat the Junior girls 8-0. Who didn't know that was going to be the result, right? What can I say we were pretty proud of our little Defensive Back!

Hair, Parties and Additions....

The SINGLE most exciting thing that happened this week is I became an Aunt to Addison Anne Ludwig. She was born on 9/12/08 to my sister Anjanette and her husband Craig. She is perfect and beautiful. However, she lives in Tempe, AZ which in times like this seems so very far away. When a picture in your email isn't enough and you just want to hold her and smell her, kiss her and watch her non stop. She is the baby sister to Kaylin 2, Lauren, 4 and Davin 6.

Oh and the SECOND most important happening from this week is Kenzie cut 5 inches off of her hair. Who would of though it? We ALL love it and she is so cute with her sassy new do!

The other item of interest this week was the Quik Check party last Thursday. We had a BBQ with our families and it really was a good time. Bentlee was the hit of the party and everyone that has heard so much about Alyson finally got to meet her. My entire family was there with Jason and I except Colby who was working the Nucor "shutdown". There were so many little kids running around and then there was Isaac who definately put on a show with his hula hoop! You can just see the amount of concentration in his little face!!

Jan's Birthday

I still have not perfected the habit of sitting down and writing a post each week. So here goes with the latest. On Saturday it was Jan's birthday and so the "girls" went to lunch at Blackstone (Jan's choice, she had never been). I told her how much we like it so we were all excited. Let's just say we had the WORST service I have had there since the week they opened. There was literally no one there but us and our server should definately reconsider her chosen profession, I kindly suggest one that probably doesn't have to do with serving or helping the public in general. Anyway we had a good time hanging out and catching up on everything that is going in our busy crazy lives.

Sunday afternoon Grandpa invited us all up to his house for cake and ice cream for Jan and Christopher's birthday. Grandma is in AZ with Anjanette waiting (still waiting as of right now) for the new arrival to their family. Jan brought her favorite cake from Sam's and I brought the ice cream. You can see in the pictures that I think Tereck was hungry for "pizza" and Bentlee loves her new pink shoes. Yes, I know it WAS Jan's birthday and she kind of sort of made it into one of the pictures. Happy Birthday, Jan!

Blogging for Kenzie...

Well, We are sitting here tonight and Kenzie said "are you blogging?" I said " I should it has been awhile!" Then Kenzie said "you should blog ALL about me!! I am cute, amazing, funny, the best person in our family and my mom REALLY loves me ALOT!" So there you have it. She is not lacking for self esteem now is she?

This has been a busy week with school starting for Kenz at Mountain Crest and Andy at USU. Andy has started a second night job working with his mom at Quik Check. For one of his classes he has to memorize 14 plants each week with their common and scientific name. Already he runs around saying "Quiz me,Quiz me!"

For awhile now Jason has been telling me that I need to get a hobby! So yesterday Kenzie and were in The Book Table getting supplies to make an All About Kenzie Poster for her Interior Design class and we did it. We got a hobby!! We have signed up for Mother and Daughter Scrapbooking Classes. We came home and told Jason we had gotten that hobby he so wanted us to have and he said "It's much cheaper than golf" and we both thought, hmmm...little does he know how many different tools and amazing accessories there are for scrapbooking. We will see how much he likes us having this hobby after a few classes! :)

I just asked Kenzie what I should write about now and she said "You could write about the Bees game we went to last Friday or you could write more about me!" So... last Friday we went to the Bees game with the IEA. The whole family went and Alyson's mom, Karen and her sister Britt came with us. Bentlee was so cute as always and Ma Maw Sheri took her to get ice cream. The Bee's lost 12-1 but we got to see some pretty good fireworks after the game. Oh and in case there was any doubt, yes we went to PF Changs first!!

The weather feels like it is starting to change around here already. It was cold this morning and Andy said it was 42 degrees riding the Zuma to work at 6:00 am. Some of the leaves are turning colors and there is a crispness to the air. Summer was too short this year and none of us are ready for winter. Bring on Fall, but Winter can stay away. We are looking forward to the last long Holiday weekend of Summer. There are so many events that will be happening in September- babies, birthdays, work parties and yes those hobbies and if there is nothing else to blog about, there is always Kenzie!
